Tebrau Bay has been declared a part of Johor’s international zone, in line with efforts by the state government to transform Iskandar Malaysia into a future metropolis.

The declaration will see Teluk Tebrau being developed into a competitive industrial and investment hub that is capable of attracting foreign investors, said Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and reported byBernama.

“In terms of promotion and branding, it will have its own brand that will promoted regionally and worldwide,” said Mohamed Khaled at the ground breaking ceremony of the development of Greenland Danga Bay Sdn Bhd and Greenland Tebrau Sdn Bhd on Monday.

One of the potential projects to be built within Tebrau Bay is a mixed development project by Greenland Tebrau.

With a gross development value (GDV) of RM30 billion, the project will comprise international hotels on 51.7ha of land.

On the development of other areas marked as international zones, he revealed that the state government will meet other stakeholders to discuss about what would be the main highlights of the development areas on 5 August.

“State Local Government and Housing Executive Councillor, Datuk Abd Latif Bandi, will hold meetings with all stakeholders on development features for the areas under the international zone,” stated Mohamed Khaled.

In his speech, he also mentioned that the state government hopes to see Iskandar become a metropolis that is comparable to Kuala Lumpur.

He noted that the economic zone should be a metropolis with culture, character and image, with the preservation of tradition and culture.
