Immediate Enforcement Of LPHJ Enactment Needed For More Home Ownership Opportunities

Date:2015/02/23

JOHOR BAHARU -- The enforcement of the Johor Housing and Real Property Board (LPHJ) Enactment 2014 should be expedited to give more people access to affordable housing.

Johor Baharu Member of Parliament Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad said the enactment which was passed by the State Legislative Assembly in June 2014, should also be clarified to the people in order for them to know the benefits and chances of owning affordable houses.

"There will definitely be more affordable housing built mainly in Iskandar Malaysia region, but we are still hoping for LPHJ 2014 to be enforced immediately," he told reporters at the launch of Rakan Kembara Malaysia Johor at Plaza Angsana here Saturday.

Shahrir said this in response to a question on how LPHJ could assist the people in buying affordable houses, especially in Iskandar Malaysia.

With the enactment, LPHJ would be tasked with policymaking, implementation, coordination and planning of the housing and real estate development in the state.
