Dulux Ushers in an Auspicious 2015!
Date:2015/01/28
KUALA LUMPUR– Dulux, a quality brand by AkzoNobel, Monday celebrated the conclusion of successful 2014 with a media luncheon, where media members were enlightened with new ways of unlocking the Everyday+ through the use of 2015 colour trends for the Year of the Goat!
Last year, Dulux Malaysia unveiled AkzoNobel’s Colour of the Year for 2015, which was identified as ‘Copper Orange’. The appointment of Copper Orange as AkzoNobel’s Colour of the Year 2015 was established by a group of global designers and colour experts involved in the research for ColourFuturesTM – an annual global study of colour to identify the major colour trends that will influence interior design in the New Year. By tying these trends together to the central idea of “Everyday+ Finding the wonderful in the normal”, five global colour trends were presented for 2015, namely: “Big nature + small me”, “Layer + layer”, “Unseen spaces”, “Him + Her” and “Friendly Barter +”.
“After many years of searching, connecting and discovering our potential, we want 2015 to focus on bringing out the Everyday+ by finding the wonderful in the normal. All of us at AkzoNobel believe that life should be painted with the vibrancy of colour, wherein every day becomes a potential to make meaningful memories. By exploring under-utilized spaces, as well as our relationship with each other and our environment, we are learning to look at the world around us in new and unique ways,” said Jeremy Rowe, Managing Director of AkzoNobel Decorative Paints, South East & South Asia, Middle East.
In support of Dulux’s continuous effort to encourage “Let’s Colour”, Master Kenny Hoo, Feng Shui ambassador for Dulux Malaysia, shared inspirational Feng Shui tips, as well as his strong knowledge on the use of colours to enhance personal Feng Shui. “The colour orange represents the Earth element – the most auspicious element of 2015. Using suitable colour combinations can achieve good Feng Shui functional effects. For instance, painting Copper Orange in combination with Green in the Southwest sector can trigger lots of positive Qi that brings plenty of celebratory events in 2015, such as job upgrades, greater health, marriage and baby luck. Painting Blue colour in the North sector can bring forth greater wealth luck,” said Master Kenny Hoo.
For the first time ever, Master Kenny also excites the crowd by giving away 1:1 Feng Shui consultations. During these sessions, he analysed individual birth dates and time to help each person understand the ways in which positive Qi can be introduced in their daily lives. Through this process, Master Kenny Hoo was able to successfully compliment Dulux’s message through the incorporation of ancient, yet simple Feng Shui colour combination that serve to unlock hidden potentials in 2015.
Like other design trends, home trends often stand against the test of time. Although these trends change annually, many people still rely on simple ways to reorganize space through Feng Shui. According to Master Kenny, “One of the highest Feng Shui implementation skill is achieved through Good Feng Shui Converge Water Technique®, which requires the holistic mastery of Feng Shui knowledge and technique in order for it to work.” With that said, the best way to incorporate Feng Shui into one’s personal life is through a play on colour.
Master Kenny Hoo from Good Feng Shui has identified ORANGE as the 2015 Good Feng Shui® Lucky Colour of the year. Like the awakening morning sunlight that gives new hope to all, the colour orange energizes, revitalizes and motivates the body, mind and soul. Similarly, as quoted by colour experts at the AkzoNobel Global Aesthetic Centre, “orange represents warmth in attitude and a renewed emphasis on sharing; the natural palette of the earth, from clay tones to sunlit highlights of yellow; the skin tones that reflect human interaction and the sepia hues of the past. It is a colour full of depth that combines wonderfully with the everyday.”
By incorporating Global Colour Trends and Colour of the Year with the culturally infused understanding of Feng Shui, everyone can learn to unlock the potentials that surround them. And this applies to countries, businesses and individuals.
“By learning how to use colours, individuals can instantaneous change the mood of a room. Be it at home, or in the workspace, Dulux is dedicated to inspire positivity and creativity, as well as to invite positive energies to occupy a space. We are proud to introduce the gift of colour across cultures, from the Netherlands to Malaysia; through combining the art of Feng Shui and global colour trends. Every home, office, school or factory has huge potentials if you know how to unlock the space and the ideas within,” said Mr. Jeremy Rowe.
