More Than RM1 Billion Allocated For Projects To Alleviate Flooding

PASIR SALAK - The government has allocated more than RM1 billion in Budget 2015 for various projects to alleviate flooding, including those under the Flood Mitigation Plan (FMP).
Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan said RM893.2 million was allocated for FMP projects, RM87.4 million for prevention of coastal erosion, RM40.5 million for deepening of estuary and RM49.6 million for repairing dams.
"The government allocated RM19.5 million for flood control, replacing pumps and improving the water gates and RM12 million to the Meteorological Department to improve the weather forecast system," he said after visiting flood victims at Mara Junior Science College, here Thursday.
During the visit, Ahmad also presented mattresses, pillows and blankets to 827 families affected by the floods.
