MMC-Gamuda is PDP for MRT Line 2

Date:2014/11/01

KUALA LUMPUR: MMC Corporation Bhd and Gamuda Bhd have been appointed project delivery partner (PDP) for the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit’s Line 2, which will link Sungai Buloh, Serdang and Putrajaya.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia Wednesday, MMC said it received a letter on Tuesday from Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd appointing a joint-venture company to be established between MMC and Gamuda Bhd.

“The terms and conditions of the appointment will be contained in a project delivery partner agreement to be negotiated and agreed to.

“MMC will make the appropriate announcement to Bursa Malaysia as and when there is a material development in relation to the Line 2 project,” it said.

Gamuda also made the same announcement in a separate filing.

MMC-Gamuda Joint Venture, which is the ISMAILPDP for mass rapid transit’s (MRT) Line 1, had been tipped to also undertake the second line.

As PDP its primary function is to ensure the successful completion of the MRT within the pre-determined target cost and date.

Analysts had expected the government to have the same terms for Line 2 PDP.

MMC-Gamuda Joint Venture has been praised by some analysts for doing a good job in keeping progress of Line 1 on track.

In the 2015 Budget, the government has announced the rollout of the much-anticipated 56km Line 2 at an estimated cost of RM23 billion.
